At Dancetec Academy, we’re proud to be more than just a dance school. Over the years, we’ve helped pupils of all ages discover their passion for dance, build confidence, form lasting friendships and create wonderful memories. But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what our pupils, parents, former dancers and friends in the community have to say about their experiences with us.

Our Dance Families

Heartfelt experiences from parents and grandparents who have watched their children grow with Dancetec Academy.

As a parent, having my girls join Dancetec Academy back in 2017 was one of the best choices I made. From the very first session, both Daisimae and Lexi-Rose felt welcomed, encouraged and excited to learn. Both Tricia and Alyx are amazing. They create a fun and supportive environment while teaching real technique and discipline. I have seen such a positive change in the girls' confidence and their continuous desire to learn more through the workshops available. It has been more than just a class; it's a place for kids to grow, express themselves and build lasting friendships. I couldn't recommend Dancetec Academy more.

Faro's experience at Dancetec Academy has been amazing from the moment she joined at just 3 years old.She found a place where she could bring her true self, feel happy and have fun. She loves the shows, as all her friends at Dancetec get involved and they get to showcase what they practise.

Since joining Dancetec, we've seen remarkable growth in Alice, not just in her dancing ability, but in her confidence and passion for dancing.Becoming part of the competition team has been especially impactful. It's given her the opportunity to push herself further, take on new challenges and truly thrive doing what she loves. We're really grateful for the inspiring teachers, Tricia and Alyx, who have helped Alice grow both as a dancer and as a person.

Dancetec has helped to shape Olivia in so many positive ways. From a young age she has learned the value of discipline, commitment and teamwork. The supportive environment helped her build confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self.Dance became more than just a hobby; it is a foundation for personal growth, lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.

Once Dancetec, Always Dancetec

Memories and friendships that last long after the final dance class.

Tricia was an inspiration to me as a young dancer. She invested in honing my skills and my passion whilst allowing me the creativity to develop my style.Dancetec will always have a hold on my heart as an amazing dance school and a home from home.

I joined Dancetec at the age of three and grew up there as part of the dance family. They took me in not just as a dancer but as a person. My experience there has been nothing but wonderful and the community was my favourite place to be. They developed my dance ability, but also my social abilities and built up my confidence to be the person I am today.I loved taking part in numerous shows and competitions and I'll never forget the experience of waiting to go on stage and sparkle as a Dancetec Academy member.

During my years with Dancetec I found a little family. I made friends for life that I still speak to now at 19!Friday nights were always full of fun, whether it was rehearsal for a show, practice for exams or the Dance-a-thon.I couldn't recommend Tricia and Alyx enough! The best place to start your dancing career as a little one or even just for fun!

Nearly 20 years ago I joined Dancetec as a 7-year-old with my sister and it quickly became the one thing I looked forward to every week on a Friday. They are a huge part of the reason I am who I am today. It's more than a dance school; it's a family that supports and nurtures you into being the best possible person you believe you can be.I'm so glad that 20 years later I'm still able to be involved in some way with this school and that I get to see Tricia and Alyx pass on their knowledge and passion to a new generation of students, like they did for me all those years ago.

I started my dance journey at Dancetec Academy at 3 years old and for 12 years those at Dancetec, most specifically Tricia and Alyx, were some of the most influential people in my life.Dancetec isn't just a dance class; it provides a positive and nurturing environment for all the children that they teach. From lessons, exams and competitions, all of the opportunities that Dancetec provides completely moulded my character for the better.I massively treasured my years at Dancetec and would always recommend Dancetec to anyone who dreams of becoming a dancer.

From Studio to Stage

Celebrating the achievements of former pupils who have taken their passion for dance further.

Dancetec Academy has been a big part of my life.Training with Tricia for many years developed my confidence, gave me many opportunities to take part in competitions, shows and exams and helped me build lifelong friendships, as the dance school had a true family vibe, providing endless support.Dancetec has been the foundation of my dreams and goals as a professional performer, and at the time of writing I am proud to say that I have spent ten years working in the professional industry.

I wouldn’t know where to begin to thank Tricia Robinson for what she has given me. As a pupil of hers I developed a love for dance, and Tricia always made sure to nurture every child’s unique talent, and her love and passion for the arts is as vibrant now as when I was a child. My training with her led onto a professional career in dance and performing arts, and I have had the great fortune of performing in theatres around the UK and abroad, including television.I think the skills I learnt from her training I’ve re-used over and over again in my life many times. I feel good dance training not only gives you discipline, technique, fitness and a good work ethic, it also gives you confidence, helps build friendships, provides posture and presence, and the ability to communicate on a variety of levels. I have gone on to become a fitness trainer myself including Zumba and Pilates instructor, and to say my qualifications were easy, was really down to my training I had with Tricia for all those years. Once you’ve mastered dance training you feel you can master anything.I know I will continue to look to her as a mentor for years to come, and it is safe to say my whole life has been shaped by the dance training and experiences I had under her schooling. I can’t even imagine what my life would look like without it. Thank you Tricia Robinson I will be forever grateful for the dance and life skills you have given me.

I started dancing at Dancetec as a youngster aged 5 and stayed until the age of 13. With lots of opportunities to perform on stage with Dancetec, my love for dance and theatre grew. My Saturday Dancetec classes were the beginning of many years training in musical theatre.I graduated at York St.John with a degree in dance and also hold a diploma in professional musical theatre from SLP. After graduating from SLP I moved to London to finally pursue a career in the industry. Since graduating I have worked as a actress, dancer and model across London and Yorkshire.

I taught Alyx briefly as a little girl, who showed a great deal of promise, so I'm delighted she's a qualified teacher with the IDTA in Ballet and Tap.The Principal of Dancetec Academy, Tricia Robinson, was coached by me for several years, culminating in her gaining Fellowship with the IDTA.Tricia has always been a most conscientious teacher, with a kind and caring attitude towards all children in her school.

Your First Dance, Your Way

Making special occasions unforgettable with personalised dance lessons and choreography.

We came across a sign advertising dance lessons and decided to get in touch with Alyx by email. From the very first lesson, we knew we'd made the right decision. We had four hours of lessons with Alyx, and the whole experience was amazing. She made us feel so comfortable, as if we'd known each other for years. She really listened to what we wanted for our first dance, adapted the choreography to suit us, and was always happy to make changes until everything felt just right. The end result was better than we could ever have imagined. Our first dance looked incredible, and that's saying something because neither my husband nor I have any sense of rhythm!Alyx somehow managed to make us feel confident, relaxed and actually enjoy dancing.Alyx is incredibly patient, talented and such a lovely person to work with. We couldn't recommend her more.Thank you, Alyx, for helping us create one of the most special memories of our wedding day. We'll always be grateful!
